Standardization of methods for measuring mechanical behavior and properties of plastics, including static mechanical behavior, hardness and surface properties, impact and high-speed properties, temperature-dependent mechanical behavior, and fracture and fatigue behavior. Standards for the dimensions of test specimens as well as acquisition and presentation of data also falls in the scope of SC 2.

Excluded: unless otherwise agreed, tests specific to one product.

Note 1: SC 2 is one of the sub-committees under ISO/TC 61. The extent and limitation for the products involved is given by the scope for ISO/TC 61.

Note 2: By agreement, standards related to mechanical testing of long-fibre-reinforced plastics are developed and maintained by ISO/TC 61/SC 13 and by ISO/TC 61/SC 2.
